Easy Cooking Recipes: Easy Crock Pot beef stroganoff

Having a crock pot or slow cooker in a home with busy families is a must! The choice of preparing your healthy meal ahead of time, spending just a few moments in the morning before everyone rushes off to school and work can not only relieve stress, but also save precious time after work and after-school activities. There is nothing more stressful than cranky, hungry children who want to eat NOW!

Having a few go-to favorite recipes for your crock pot is essential when you are at a loss to come up with dinner ideas. Planning is key when it comes to finding healthy meal ideas for your family.

Crock Pot Beef Stroganoff

stew beef or beef sirloin strips cut up (depending on the size of your family will determine how much meat you need-typically 1/2 lbs per person -approximately $2.00 per person)
1 pkg of onion gravy mix ($1.50)
1 pkg of mushroom gravy mix (1.50)
1 can of mushrooms ($2.00)
1 can of mushroom soup ($1.50)
seasoning of your choice - Mrs. Dash, salt/pepper, basil, etc. (approximately $0.20)
1/2 cup-1 cup of sour cream ($4.00)
egg noodles or other noodles of your choice ($1.00)

Put all the beef in the crock pot and pour the can of cream of mushroom soup over top. Add the can of mushrooms along with the onion gravy mix and the mushroom gravy mix with any of the seasonings you wish. Stir to coat the beef and distribute the seasonings evenly. Let cook for 4-6 hours depending on how much meat you have and if it is frozen or not.

When you are home and ready to eat, boil your noodles and while they are cooking add 1/2 cup - 1 cup of sour cream to the crock pot and stir well. Let sit while the noodles cook. Once the noodles are finished, the beef stroganoff is ready!

Put noodles on your plate and top off with the beef stroganoff from the crock pot for a wonderful, easy and nutritious meal for your family! For a family of 5, this recipe will cost an average of $4.34 per person.
