Easy Cooking Recipes: Easy, Easter Dessert

The inspiration for this cake came from one of my favorite flowers, the sunflower. The yellow peeps make eye-catching flower petals, and I carefully placed chocolate chips in a circular pattern to resemble the seeds in the middle of a sunflower. This cake is easy, but looks quite impressive.

What You Need:

(Makes: 12 servings)

1 package (18 & 1/4 ounces) of yellow cake mix

2 cans (16 ounces each) of chocolate frosting

19 yellow chick Peeps candies

1 &1/2 cups of semisweet chocolate chips

What to Do:

STEP 1) Prepare and bake the cake according to package directions, using two greased and waxed paper-lined 9 inch round baking pans. Cool for at least 10 minutes before removing cakes from their pans to wire racks to cool completely; carefully remove waxed paper.

STEP 2) Make sure you cut the tops of your cakes to make them level. Spread the frosting between layers and over the top and sides of cake.

STEP 3) Without separating the Peeps and curving them slightly to fit, arrange chicks around edges of the cake to make the sunflower petals. For the sunflower seeds, arrange chocolate chips in center of cake right side up.

STEP 4) Enjoy!
